The danger is when we are practicing these things we are not seeking Gods presence, and if we are not spending time in his presence getting filled by his spirit, then we cannot be transformed, and fall into works. So all the crap, the negative spirits, negative ideas, negative thoughts etc will still remain. It is only by the filling of the spirit that we are changed, made new, not by our works or our striving to be acceptable to God, but by God's grace and the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, the filling of his spirit is what changes us, from the inside out. But in order for that to happen, we must seek the Kingdom of God and his righteousness first! When I fell out of God's presence a few years ago, and then got caught up in these teachings, that is exactly what happened, what also happened is the veil was again pulled over my eyes, to the point where I have almost forgotten the blessedness of the knowing that no matter what crap I am caught up in, nothing prevents me from seeking him and partaking of him except the lie that can creep in, the one that says you are not worthy because you are doing this, that causes you to fall into works, and basically cancels out the ultimate sacrifice of Jesus. Gods Love and Grace our not based on our performance but on his Love and Grace, thus the word "come as you are"! And yes we do begin to change, the crap we are caught up in does fall away, but not by our works, but by the filling of his spirit, because if we could do it ourselves then we would be God and not him!
