Hi Prince,

Maybe its time to write an article on this topic. I have come to realize that prayer and fasting is important, not to obtain power, but to enter into deeper relationship with God.

The key to spiritual power is in the relationship and our connection to God. We connect to God through prayer. The sacrificing of bodily comfort through fasting is to help us focus more on God's presence. When Jesus was asked why His disciples don't fast, He replied that He was still with them, but when He is away from them, then they will fast again. So, it is about His presence with them and fasting is a way to enter into deeper relationship.

To have a desire for the Gifts of the Spirit and spiritual power for the right reasons is a good and noble desire. The way to obtain it, is to spend time in God's presence seeking to be His friend and becoming a better companion to Him. We should refrain from seeking God in prayer and fasting mainly as a means to obtain power, our focus and strongest desire should be to know God and leave it to Him to grant our heart's desire and teach us about His kingdom.

Our prayer on a constant basis should be:
"God, help me to know You better so I can become a better person, to come forth in the image of Christ, so that I could better serve my fellow man."

Hope this helps to give perspective from my viewpoint.

Blessings!

Your articles are eyes openers including your uncommon book (entrance to Power). Thank God for spirit like you.
You do not lay much emphasis on "Christians fasting". The roles that fasting play in Soul journey. I will like to have better insight on this, as most christian leaders believe that Fasting with Prayer is the key to spiritual power. Thanks so much.

Hi Sergio,

Thank you for your support and positive response. It is really appreciated!

I believe we should use the good things we can retain from the foundations of faith laid down in our lives by church and religion, and use it as a starting point to enter into a higher spiritual life and relationship with God. We can do this irrespective of the denomination we have grown up in. God is much greater than any, or all the religions in the world. What is imporatant to realise, is that He has created us and brought us through those experiences to prepare us for things from a higher spiritual nature, things unspeakable!. Our purpose is to come forth in the image of Christ and enter into perfect union with the Father. We have to seek and enter onto this spiritual journey now. What we sow in the spirit during this life journey, we will reap in this life and in the ages to come.

God bless!

Hello Philip,
Your postings are great. I'm glad to have found them, I'm sure they were waiting
for me to find them. I agree with one of the bloggers that i don't want them to
stop. I'm a catholic, but i haven't been able to bring myself to church for so many
years. This gives me a new way, and I'm glad I found it. This posting is especially
insightful, as it describes the meditation exercises, and I can't wait to start meditating. Best to you Philip, and Thank you.

Hi Sakkie,

All souls were created by God with a free will to choose. Through our soul journeys we will come to the point where we will be drawn by the Spirit of God to the point where we have to make a choice whether to accept the invitation to be united in spirit to God's Spirit.

To enter into oneness with God, we have to adhere to the words of Jesus when He said to Nicodemus in John 3:

Joh 3:5 Jesus answered, I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, unless a man is born of water and [even] the Spirit, he cannot [ever] enter the kingdom of God.

So, yes, only through spiritual rebirth can we achieve this oneness with God. Our spirits then become one with God's Spirit and we have the seed in us whereby we can grow (on soul) level into the full likeness of Christ.

Romans 8:11 speaks of this indwelling of the Holy Spirit that we receive after spiritual rebirth:

Rom 8:11 And if the Spirit of Him Who raised up Jesus from the dead dwells in you, [then] He Who raised up Christ Jesus from the dead will also restore to life your mortal (short-lived, perishable) bodies through His Spirit Who dwells in you.

Roman 10:10 tells us how this rebirth is obtained:

Rom 10:10 For with the heart a person believes (adheres to, trusts in, and relies on Christ) and so is justified (declared righteous, acceptable to God), and with the mouth he confesses (declares openly and speaks out freely his faith) and confirms [his] salvation.

There is only one Entrance into the Kingdom of God - by faith in Jesus Christ that is our spiritual rebirth.

Regards

Hi Sakkie,

Jesus said to His disciples, "If you have seen me, you have seen the Father". Jesus said that He came to do the will of the Father. The Bible also states that Jesus was able to do the perfect will of the Father because He had the Holy Spirit - "without measure". Jesus was the perfect replica or representation of God (who is Spirit) in the physical, on earth. This is exactly what God has destined for us, to come forth in the image of Christ (the Anointed one).

Romans 8:29-30
For those whom He foreknew [of whom He was aware and loved beforehand], He also destined from the beginning [foreordaining them] to be molded into the image of His Son [and share inwardly His likeness], that He might become the firstborn among many brethren.

And those whom He thus foreordained, He also called; and those whom He called, He also justified (acquitted, made righteous, putting them into right standing with Himself). And those whom He justified, He also glorified [raising them to a heavenly dignity and condition or state of being].

Romans 8:14
For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.

Although we all differ from each other on a soul level (mind and thought), as well as in bodily appearance, we have one thing in common: The life-giving spirit of God. It is by the indwelling Spirit of God that we are called "sons of God". Coming forth in the image of the Son (Jesus Christ), by the renewal of our minds, we will start to do the things of the Father more and more, just as Jesus demonstrated by the works of miracles, signs and wonders.

Our spirits are reborn into the perfect image of God as Jesus explained it to Nicodemus in John 3. This is an instant transformation. Thus, we carry the perfect replica image of God in our re-born spirits. Our souls were created as individuals even before the physical creation (read Eph 1:4-12, especially as it is explained in The Message translation), but soul-growth is necessary to bring our souls to completion. The ultimate goal is that we will, by free will and spiritual growth (which takes place in our souls) become perfect companions to the Creator, just like Jesus, one with the Father.

In summary: Our spirits are one with the Spirit of God and it is everlasting. It is God's imprint of Himself in us. Our souls were created to enable us to also function as different individual entities and personalities, but at the same time we are to develop our souls to realize our part within the "whole". Our bodies are temporary vessels that transport our souls (and spirits) through a temporary experience in the three dimensional world. The purpose of this physical experience is that our souls can further develop within a challenging, free-will environment. We learn to exercise our creative-faith abilities through challenges and we mature in our relationships with other souls.

I hope this answers your question.

Philip
